In recent times retro clothing has started to come back into fashion along with old style entertainment like burlesque shows and rock-a-billy music. The trend has been seen in many modern day entertainment with music videos from Christina Aguilera as well as other artists that tip their hat to these old styles of music and clothing. The traditional styles of corset have also been seen in Hollywood blockbusters. Kate Beckinsale sported an underbust corset in the Van Helsing movie and Keira Knightley wore a variety of corsets in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
Corsets have become popular again in various scenes. Fans of the alternative music scene often incorporate corsets and seamed stockings with their trenchcoats and boots.
Vintage lingerie has also become more popular. Retro lingerie styles from the 1940's and 50's have made an impact on both the catwalk and the 
highstreet. This is why we have seen the return of burlesque hosiery, stockings, bullet bras and suspender belts to the lingerie market. In the fashion world it is more about having a variety of different looks which is why people are looking to different eras for inspiration and mixing styles of hosiery and vintage lingerie with modern styles of push up bras and thongs.
Types of Corset
There are many different types of corset available on the market from retro corsets that go back to the 1940's style to more modern looks with buckles and zips attached. All corsets however have one major thing in common they are designed to give a woman a more curvy figure by reducing the waist which in turn enhances the bust and hips.
Vintage corsets tend to be a more traditional type of corset based on vintage designs and styles. Overbust corsets tend to enclose the womans torso as 
they extend from under the arms and down to the hips. An underbust corset begins at the bust and goes down to the hips. Waist cinchers are a shorter type of corset which focus on the waist as waist cinchers extend from the ribs to the hips. Some corsets incorporate garters to hold up stockings and suspenders rather than having to wear a seperate suspender belt.
